“ ‘Being alone isn’t the same as not having other people around.’ “

➡️ linear timeline
👥 POV: multiple first person
🐎  Pace: Medium

💭 This book takes us back to the lovely witches of the discworld.

What I loved:
  • The summary of the previous witch books
  • Jason and Shawn Ogg
  • The librarian
  • Duel showdown
  • Mythical creatures we haven’t seen before
  • Bees
  • Midsummer night’s dream retelling (kinda)

What I wasn’t a fan of
  • Some of the pacing got a bit weird

This was not one of my favorite of the witch stories. This book takes a shift in tone to being a fair bit darker than even the books following Death. A character is introduced here who I hope to see again but I’ve no idea if that’ll be the case.

An excellent Discworld book focusing on the Lancre witches Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, and Magrat on their home turf. Cameos from wizards, dwarves, trolls and the Librarian ahead of a Midsummer wedding. Funny and brutal with an abundance of cultural references and a riveting and knowing narrative. Ook.
