She pays someone to buy a cat for her on the black market and instead she gets a whole ass man š
Ruby is a miracle worker because the MMC is the most unlikeable, stuck up, mooch and by the end he's actual tolerable.
I wonder if this book is a set up for a new spin off š§

This book is good thereās just no reason why it needed to be over 350 pages
My blood is BOILING. I'm so mad I could cry, puke or hit something. This MMC is so incredibly infuriating that I'm overstimulated by everything else too. He's in her bed, naked????????? (š¤®š¤®š¤®š¤®š¤®) Telling her to draw him a bath?? Be his servant BC he will pay her (at some point) but LET'S REMEMBER that his trunks are missing and he hasn't a PENNY to his name. I would rather incriminate myself by going to the police than deal with an atrocity like this guy.
Yea I couldnāt finish this one. It takes more than 50+ chapters of them going back and forth before anything good even happens. This serial is still going⦠125 chapters later. The āchemistryā between the couple is not strong enough to keep me hanging on that long.
3.5 stars
Probably would have rated higher if I read it a chapter per week on Facebook like I used to but I didnāt and this wasā¦. Long. There were times with lots of good stuff happening and then times with a lot of nothing & reading it all at once was just a bit much. Really liked their personalities etc and interested in new characters. Overall I enjoyed it.

If Ruby Dixon has no fans, it means Iām š somehow she manages to write another clutch alien romance and makes the MMC so unlikeable at the start and lovable by the end. I was unconvinced that I would like Zhur at any point but I should have trusted Ruby to work her magic. Maeve was an excellent counterpoint to his energy and absolutely did not take his shit, which I loved, too. And all the teasers for future Sunrise Cantina content makes me feralšDopekh loving to farm and hugging the cows? Absolutely precious, 10/10
POV: dual first person
You can expect: enemies to lovers, forced proximity, roomance, exiled royalty MMC, extrovert FMC, opposites attract, worlds apart, marriage of convenience, āmy wifeā, friends with benefits, size/species difference, he falls first.
Rep: trauma, queer side character
Spice: 3/5
CW: discussion of past kidnapping and enslavement

Spoiled brat to Prince semi charming
Letās be honest; Zhur is snobby and entitled to the extreme. Heās a cat-alien diva with a superiority complex as a result of his upbringing and station in life. For all those things, he isnāt necessarily mean. He takes a min to warm up to Maeve and his new situation in life, but he does grow on her and the readers. Maeve is an impulsive ball of sunshine who is lonely AF. They balance each other out.
Zhur had a much more impressive growth arc than Maeve, but she did grow in self-confidence and in her ability to be honest with herself. Iām excited about the clear introduction of more Praxxians for future books because they are so fun!
Spice: 4/5
Triggers: abduction (off page), captivity (off page), PTSD flashbacks, threat of assassination

Most of these books are more in line with novellas and this one is basically a full-length novel. And it is too long. I mean it is good and I did enjoy parts of it but man....there was a lot of filler and the pacing was super wonky and it would have done much better if it was much shorter.
Given the length of the novel I would have expected more character development and you can see development and we do get background for Zhur but Maeve is just Maeve. We don't get much backstory for her and she doesn't change over the course of the book and she doesn't have much depth.
So, all together, this was okay but too long and not the best in the bunch.
