Enjoyable but I found Maya’s character kind of grating at points.

I think I am slowly coming to the conclusion that I am not the biggest fan of major age gap stories. There are 20 years between the leads in this one, and because of that I really struggled to actually understand where the connection between the two came from. Or maybe that was the fault of the author? They didn’t have anything in common, and yes that can work with people, but throw in a 20 year age difference and that makes it harder to understand. Regardless, this wasn’t the worst story I’ve experienced so far but it’s also not one I will revisit again.

So I actually listened to this book because I was in dire need of some new Angela Dawe narration. I had only read one previous Harper Bliss book and while it was fine I hadn’t particularly enjoyed some elements of it.

I’m not the biggest fan of age gap so I started this with a little trepidation. After the first ‘encounter’ with the two leads I thought I knew what to expect for the rest of the book.

I was pleasantly surprised when we get a 10 year time jump and I discovered I really enjoyed the rest of the book and understood more about the beginning needing to be included.

Harper Bliss has some truly beautiful ways with language and I quite enjoyed the characters throughout.

Of course, Angus is easily my favourite characters. I found the examination of the age gap from both characters perspectives quite well done and interesting.

4.5 Stars - will read again

I could not put this one down. The chemistry was just jumping off the page. Add to that the little bit of taboo and *chef's kiss*, it's my catnip. The leads are both really likable people. The angst felt real but it wasn't overboard. Did I mention the chemistry? I just loved every minute reading this book and will definitely be reading it again at some point. If this turns into an audible, would even consider buying it again if I like the narrator. :)

I wanted to love At Your Most Beautiful so much more than I actually did. The cover is stunning and I devoured this book, as expected.

I found that little things turned me away from my overall enjoyment of the story. I was pleasantly surprised by Maya and Quinn, both as individuals and as lovers, but certain things—especially about Quinn—turned me off.

The writing was great and the plot was angsty and engaging. I just wanted a lot more than I got from this one.
