I consider The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue to be one of my favourite books, so my expectations were extremely high. In the sequel, we get the perspective of Felicity, following her in her quest to learn medicine, then help an estranged friend and thwart invaders destroying a precious resource. Like TGGTVAV, this book was very well written. I immediately felt immersed in felicity’s voice and the descriptions were well done. Overall I enjoyed the read, but it was slightly disappointing. The story didn’t grab me as much as it’s predecessor, it dragged in parts and didn’t even really feel like it was Felicity’s story, rather Joanna’s or Sim’s. It wasn’t as funny and didn’t make me feel as many emotions as TGGTVAV did, which was a shame. That being said, I would definitely read future books in this series as I like this world and Lee’s writing style so much.

I was so excited for the Lady’s Guide because the Gentleman’s Guide was five stars for me! However, I had to force myself through the first half of this second book. Maybe I was a bit too hyped up for the sequel, in the end I was a bit let down. I wanted more Monty. I wish his character had been more involved in this book.

Felicity has my heart and I love her to bits <3. This book has it all: the power of friendship, piracy, giant friendly dogs, dragons, and more. Did it have a ton of depth and/or will I think about it everyday for the rest of my life? Prob not, but it was a silly little audiobook to listen to while going on morning walks & doing yardwork, and that's what I needed.
Also, I loved how Felicity's journey of growing into herself was just acknowledging that her goals are worth pursuing while learning to not invalidate others' goals even when they're different. And loved loved her not needing a romance & validating the asexuals out there.

2.5 stars. Too many petticoats, not enough piracy. Also, the novel felt rushed yet very slow. All in all, took me a long time to finish it.
