On reading the thriller [b:The Shakespeare Secret|2535117|The Shakespeare Secret (Kate Stanley, #1)|Jennifer Lee Carrell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1347324871l/2535117._SY75_.jpg|988029], I became aware of the controversy surrounding the works attributed to Shakespeare and whether they were actually written by him. Michell's book was recommended in the bibliography as the most open-minded examination of the major claimants, from Francis Bacon to the Earl of Derby, and Michell does lay out the evidence dispassionately.
