A quick read that's a surprisingly light and comic take on a mother's death and the bizarre ways that her family deals with the tragedy. Very original storyline. Adored Elvis as a character. Would make a fun choice for book clubs.

The writing was great and the topic was heartfelt but what I loved most about this story were the quirky, flawed, beautiful characters.

This was a really cute read. It made me laugh out loud. It also made me cry. I really loved Elvis' character, she was very real and endearing.

I had a feeling I'd read this before when I picked it up second hand, and it turns out I had. regardless, this was extremely up my alley, a sad kid trying to make sense of the world around her. light absurdism. weirdly comforting.

Innocent book where Elvis navigates life after her mom dies. Funny and sad at times. Strong characters.

This book was weird for me. I never really connected to the characters. I didn’t dislike it, per say, but I just felt a little neutral all the way through.

I know others enjoyed this way more than I did, specifically for those who listened to the audio version. That may have helped bring the characters more to life, but I won’t be spending more time to find out.

The dynamic of the family was intriguing, and I had greater expectations on the thought that quirky would keep my interest. But the execution waned. Such a bummer...
