Listen I would never forgive someone for that tbh. Like I would forgive, but I couldn’t be with them. I did like this and found it entertaining, but I did get spoiled about the twist so I wasn’t shocked. I did like the characters for the most part, sometimes they annoyed me. I did end up crying during a certain letter, which I wasn’t expecting. Just a note a character says something along the lines of think you for giving me this gift and I gagged. If someone ever said that to me I would die lol. This review is honestly horrible I’m sorry.

I loved this book. This is the second book I’ve written by Colleen Hoover and I really want to read the rest of her books. This isn’t a lighthearted romance book like I’ve read in the past. This book had me crying and laughing and awing at parts but I’m so glad the way it ended. I felt every emotion of the characters.

Uhm ok, I'm not gonna go too in-depth here but I'm just really disappointed.
I really liked the idea of the story, the plot twist and overall how the story unfolds. BUT- it really makes me sad how many people love the characters, specifically Ben. He's so incredibly manipulative, possessive and toxic and the red flags started coming in the first chapter from Ben's POV. Oh, and it seems like he's never heard about consent (or he doesn't care, which is worse). The way he sexualizes Fallon and fantasizes about her body and it just being disguised as him being "caring" and "wanting to show her how beautiful she is" pissed me off so much while I was reading. And the fact that she's visibly uncomfortable with many of the sexual/physical moments but him not caring and not even asking about consent just doesn't sit right with me either. Another thing that made me furious while reading is how the concept of virginity is treated in this book as if it was something that is being "taken" from a woman that changes her and defines her as a person.
Ben is such a problematic character that just ends up being romanticized, which is so incredibly harmful. He's the typical hot manipulative Wattpad boy that you fall in love with because he makes you feel like no one is ever gonna love you as much as he does, so I understand why people may like him.
I didn't really see the plot twist coming, I'll give her that, but what could've been a brilliant plot twist in the story to me just ended up being a confirmation of how problematic Ben is.
Also, it makes me so mad how fast Fallon was to forgive him and her father for everything :// Fallon deserved better :(
I usually love every book I read because I never think critically and analyze the things I'm reading but... I don't need to be smart to see the red flags here...
I give this book 2/5 stars because of the interesting plot, if it was based solely on the characters and the way it was written it would be 0.5 stars at most :/
And yes, I read this on November 9  :)

I’m literally actually in a book coma - like a tears in my eyes can’t pick up another book total state of shock

colleen hoover is one of the most hyped up authors this year, and I can’t believe it took me this long to pick up one of her books because I’m usually front and center to the hype. and yet, I was really expecting to have an unpopular opinion against her writing - except I was proven wrong. this is easily one of my favorite books of all time.

on the anniversary of one of the worst days of her life, fallon meets ben, an aspiring writer who pretends to be her boyfriend to stick it to her dad. except fallon has ✨ trauma ✨ and refuses to date seriously until she’s 23 years old - too bad she’s already falling for him and he’s willing to wait for her. so they set an outstanding date for every november 9th to meet up again and see what happens. well, you can guess what happens next.

coho’s writing was absolutely outstanding. I felt compassion and anger right along with fallon and ben, and I wanted everything EVERYTHING to do with them. like I just wanted to hug them and scream at them and shove ben’s friggin manuscript in their faces.

I will recommend and shout this review from the rooftop to every single person. I seriously don’t think there’s one person who won’t like this book. I don’t know what else to say - there’s nothing predictable about it or cheesy …. just absolutely perfect.

Wow! Just wow! Colleen did it yet again. This story is just better than anything I’ve ever read. Yes, it was cliché. But aren’t we all thirsty for a cliché love? I loved the main characters, how she portrayed them. And what I loved the most and shocked me even worse, was the plot twist. Never had I expected it would be such a mind blowing plot twist. The ending made it all for me. It was the most cliché ending I ever read but still made me shed a few tears. It wasn’t as sad as I thought it would be, I mean yes it broke my heart, but I didn’t cry as much as I thought I would because deep inside me I was sure CoHo wouldn’t let me down with the ending. So, yeah. 100% recommended.
