As this book started, it was one I was excited to see flush itself out. I enjoyed the pacing of the beginning of the story. However, the characters became a little two-dimensional as the story went on. I struggled a little with Raelyn being in high school and the way that played into the storyline. Both main characters were very self-focused, and they were drawn to each other in ways that I struggled a bit to understand.
I thought this story would have been better without all explicit sexual contact. It didn't further the story, just muddied the waters and felt uncomfortable especially with the main character being a minor and being the aggressor in these situations.
I did enjoy the storyline overall and would read the next book in this series to continue seeing what happens.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This review is my own, honest opinion.

I recieved this book as an ARC copy and I wouldn't usually choose to pick up an adult novel because I prefer Young Adult but It's a book I enjoyed. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series but think this is a book I would only need to read once. The plot was gripping and kept me on edge but I initially had some mixed feelings about the romance until I got further into the story.
