3 stars - this is a domestic thriller with an interesting premise, some decent build up and a good twist. I love an Alice Feeney twist! However I had to give it 3 stars because I found that it dragged in some parts, and it was hard to believe the people in the letters even loved each other at one point. I also dislike the weird little one liners the author throws around like they're the most clever little statements on life and relationships. Another reviewer called them fortune cookie fortunes, and I think that is an accurate description of those lines - they felt so smug?? It honestly took me out of the story.

I also wish I kept track of how often the word "marriage" was used. I kind of wish we could have gotten to know the characters in another context? They felt so incomplete because the focus was on only one dimension of their lives, which was their relationship with each other.

could have been better

Not to be that person but I do not understand how so many people LOVE this book
Personally the lyrical metaphors and analogies weee infuriating because barely one paragraph went by without the use of one :((
So disappointed because I was so excited for this book WAH

If you want a book that is easy to figure out, this is the one

I rarely write reviews so soon after finishing a book because I like to digest what I read, but here goes🤷🏻‍♀️

There were quite a few plot holes that made it really confusing at the end. I figured out early on that Robin was Adam’s first wife, but I didn’t expect Amelia to have been in the car with Adam when his mom died.

I have too many questions.
-How did Adam know his way around the chapel?
-Did Robin actually make up the story about Amelia?
-They alluded to Henry killing people and then writing stories about it, but that was never clarified or verified. Did Robin actually kill the agent, October, etc.?
-How does Adam not know🤣
-How does the PI not know that Henry died?

I don’t do a lot of horror, and I felt this was more horror than thriller. Not that that is a bad thing, but I don’t like the vibe. I do felt that the pacing was really slow for the first half of the book. It felt like chapters would pass by, but only an hour would pass in the plot.

It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t my favorite lol. I liked the writing style. I just think that the story itself left too many holes.

I wasn't crazy about the characters, but this book has the BEST TWIST OF ALL TIME. Read with a close eye! Props to the author for laying this trap so well.

Didn't like this one very much. At least not as much as I expected to. It built up too much suspense and couldn't handle it.
