Another fun read, though I didn't enjoy it quite as well as Redshirts & Agent to the Stars. I don't enjoy politics, which this story has a healthy amount of, just more of the alien variety. LOL. The ending was great & provided several laughs.

It just didn’t hit like other Scalzi books. Way too many names to keep up with, and I just wasn’t invested in the characters.

4.5 stars. The prose was full of little jokes, many of which were hilarious – better than many outright comedic books I’ve read. The plot, too, was really interesting, with lots of big ideas, and it flowed smoothly. I have two minor gripes: some of the ideas were not given as much space as they deserved, and it was tough to keep all of the characters’ motivations and allegiances straight.

This is one of those books where the first lines just really set the tone for the story, so here they are: "Dirk Moeller didn't know if he could fart his way into a major diplomatic incident. But he was ready to find out."

Full of ridiculous circumstances but Scalzi blends it all together so it works.
