Even though the show is going down the toilet right now, I am still interested in the comics. I mean, I haven't even gotten to Negan yet!

Do you remember this episode?

Or this, poor-special-features-season-premiere-that-we-were-all-like-wait-what-is-happening-again?

Or this woman who was all like "I'm big and bad and can take care of myself and my sons (LOL)?

Well, the graphic scene involving Jesse and her younger son and that random start to a season is in this volume. The comic was such a better read than the show being a watch. It was written well and things didn't feel forced (which is what the show has become in my opinion).

Oh, and this happens:

*not marking as a spoiler because everyone and their cousins know that this happens and if you don't, I bet that rock that you have been living under is still where you left it.

and we are left with this..

It's very obvious that something bad is about to happen in #14. If #13 didn't make that completely evident, there is more than enough foreshadowing in this book for the entire series. Still, even though Rick was clearly acting increasingly unstable, I was not expecting the event that made me gasp in shock.

I keep expecting the series to decline in quality and it never does. I don't know how Kirkman does it, but I love him all the same.

Arg! I cursed and flailed my arms in an attempt to stop....or shoo away the sight of...well what happened near the end.

This entry was really mediocre. I feel like the characters are being placed in situations they've already faced and are making choices that are not in keeping with their established personalities or past decisions. Also, I understand that anyone (except Rick, I guess) can die in this series, but Kirkman spent so much time selling Carl's descent into sociopathy and telegraphing that he's not a good person that I just have a hard time caring that he got shot in the face. And Morgan--so underdeveloped, who cares? I don't know if the television series is distracting him or if the series has just gone on too long, but too many more like this and I'll not be along for the ride much longer.

this volume was kind of all over the place for me. there were definitely moments I really liked and near the end when the shit hit that fan, it was pretty much everything I read this book for. but my main issue is that w/in this volume they are facing a really threat, possibly one of the worst threats they have faced in quite sometime and it never really felt dangerous until it suddenly was. the tension wasn't right in this book. it was a lot of build up and the release was a lil too fast. not a bad volume just a pretty lopsided one.

Woah, a lot happens in this volume, and its a good mixture of action, suspense and character development. My one growing reservation is the politics of this series. Is Rick the ideal of "the good guy with a gun"? Is he the "strong man" who will save us from our liberal stupefaction? When the chips are down, is survival of the ruthless all that matters? I hope that future volumes contain compelling characters whose strongest skill isn't their marksman/swordsmanship.

I love you, Walking Dead, I really do, and I'm glad that this volume mixes things up a bit.

But it's kind of getting to be like Veronica Mars, season 3, where you enjoy the characters and it's still fun to watch, but you know how good it used to be, and it's just not that good anymore, and you're kind of wishing someone would cancel the whole thing.

I'd like to see Walking Dead go on a couple more volumes, and then they can either kill Rick or somehow make him end up in Paradise, but no more drama - I just can't take it.
