I have extremely mixed emotions about this book. I am going to start with the pros
I love Armentrout's writing, I initially DEEPLY enjoyed the From Blood and Ash series as well as this series. Both series started out super duper strong and I was feral for probably the first two books in both series. Unfortunaetly I hated a lot about this book so that's it for pros
Now time for the cons
I listened to this as an audiobook which was 37 hours long which is probably the longest audiobook I have listened to. I tried listening to it in August when it first came out but I found it so insufferable and droning that I had to stop. There's at least 15 hours of pure NONESENSE that I don't remember let alone care about. There were so many spicy scenes that was probably a good 35% of the book and I just didn't care anymore so I just started skipping over them! There was info dumping and monologues that droned on and on and I got really sick of Sera towards the end she got so annoying and whiny to me.
This series makes me sad becuase I love the plotline and the world but I think that there is just so much filler stuff that happens like this book DOES NOT need to be 770 pages, 400-500 would be much more appropriate and a much more enjoyable read. And unfortunately I feel like the same thing happened in the From Blood and Ash series, there's too much info dumping, monologues, and unnecessary filler junk.
However I do love the prophecy and will finish the From Blood and Ash series because I am way too deep to give up on it even though both series now 100% infuriate me

As much as Seraphina is a badass, and boy is she, she also faces issues many of us do and that's what makes her not only likeable but also very relatable. Será deals with a lot in this book, from finally being free of Kolis physically to not being free of him mentally, from her insecurities about will she be a good and worthy Queen to finding out she's going to be a mother. Throughout all of this she has her wonderful Heartmate, Nyktos, beside her every step of the way chasing away her bad thoughts and nightmares and ensuring that she knows just how fantastic she is.
The side characters deserve a mention as well: I simply adore the interactions we get between Será and Jadis as well as Jadis and Nyktos, they are so soft and gentle with her, it just speaks to the great parents they will eventually become. And Reaver oh sweet Reaver bud who's always concerned about his Queen couldn't get more cuter if he tried unless of course he's hiding away from the menace that is lil miss Jadis. And lastly Rhain he is good for a laugh especially when he's trying to get Será into a gown much to her dismay, she'd much rather wear breeches.

This took a lot longer to read compared to the prior books. I found the beginning to drag. I also found sera’s long winded thoughts insufferable to have the same discussion again later.

This might be the best one of Nyktos and Sera's story. I damn near had a panic attack. And thanks to having read them in publication order I know what happens after. But still. I thought my heart was going ro beat out of my chest several times.

Overall the book was good. I liked how the project was broken down and explained in detail because there’s a lot going on with it and it’s hard to keep track.
Now to the bad:
The first 60% of this book took me over a week to get through (which is unheard of for me with these books as I read the first in 2 days). The first 200 pages they don’t even get out of bed
