I can't lie; this was not my favourite book of the series (actually probably my least favourite of all of Blood and Ash and Flesh and Fire). I think that might largely be due to the repetitiveness of the first half of the book; there was a lot of repeated information, some of which felt unnecessary (but maybe this is because I've read every book multiple times), and there was a lot of repetitive phrases and ideas (
one that stood out was the frequency with which Sera reflected on how Ash was more like the Ash she met in the mortal realm. This would have bothered me less if it wasn't said, every time, like it was the first time she was thinking this).
And I think that this book was maybe a bit too long, because most of the plot happened in the last 30% of it. What I liked about this book was Sera's journey through processing her trauma, and that it
wasn't even resolved by the time the book ended.
I also liked that the prophecy was fully explained and understood by the end of this book; a lot of of questions I've had are now answered, and I can see exactly where this book is going now, and how we got there. I dunno. I love these books, they mean a lot to me, but this was just not my favourite. They can't all be winners.

I've realized I don't care about this series or the world. These books have no reason to be as long as they are and I'm just bored. So I will live in ignorance about the survival of the characters and I'm fine with that.

slow-paced

Not worth it. I would have been fine ending it at A Fire in the Flesh.
