Born of Blood and Ash is the last book of the prequel to From Blood and Ash. I think I'm going to really miss Sera and Ash but thankfully we will see them in From Blood and Ash. I got this book as an early birthday gift from my lovely sister.

This review contains spoilers for A Fire in the Flesh and From Blood and Ash series.

Sera is Ash's queen, his mate of the heart, his wife and his entire world. I love reading about the love between these two. They love each other so much and would damn the whole world for each other. They are obsessed with each other

I love how loyal Ash and Nektas are to each other. Ash is thankful for his aid and loyalty all these years and Ash earned that loyalty because of all the sacrifices he had made. I just love Nektas, Jadis and Reaver.

All in all I'm so sick of Kolis and Callum but I loved every moment with Sera and Ash. I really liked this book I did but at the same time it also felt so long. I was glad to see them already pointing to the prophecy in the other series but I do wonder what happened with their sons if Sera and Ash were trying to make sure they never had children of their own.

It really saddens me that Sera and Ash's story is now being closed of but also glad cause I feel like it would've started to get boring if it dragged on more. I really enjoyed how it was closed of and more explanation to Poppy's story. The continuation of Sera's growth was really enjoyable to read as she learns to control herself more. I just really enjoyed how this was written and each character. Hopefully Sera and Nyktos show up on the Blood and Ash series!

The Finale to Flesh and Fire Series is here! And it was a RIDE.

Born of Blood and Ash was a TOUGH read. This book follows Sera after her escape from Kolis and her new ascension. I had to take a break in the beginning because there was so much happening and I couldn’t wrap my brain around the story. Mostly due to the pacing of the plot and the writing. The writing felt so different than the 1st three?? It was like a lot more cringe than I remembered??

The first 50% is SLOW. Nothing of great importance I felt was happening to the plot. It felt like the author didn’t establish the plot till 50% in. Just like the 3rd book, this first half felt like filler. It was a struggle to read in my opinion.

Speaking of the last half of the book, this is where shit goes down. Where the plot THICKENS. I absolutely love how things came full circle, where history inevitably will repeat itself. SO GOOD. I just wish the “conclusion” of this story happened more throughout the book than the last couple of chapters. It felt the problem was quickly resolved and it was sort of unsatisfying. For example, Thierran was HEAVILY underutilized in this story. He was introduced, lurked around, and then suddenly he’s important to the final boss fight??? Like I wanted more of THAT.

The one element that I actually appreciate was seeing Sera go through and experience this trauma that was caused by Kolis in the 3rd book. A lot of people say it was too much or repetitive but you have to understand that PTSD is very much different to everyone. She struggles talking to anyone about it and she downplays her trauma so much, saying “it was nothing compared to those before her”. Which is really fucking sad. Everyone is valid to their trauma and how they experience it. I felt for Sera and cried for her as she was going through it.

Ash and Sera finally got their time together compared to the 3rd book. I’m very glad they made up for lost time. Their love for each other is so wonderful and I will always see them as my favorite romantasy couple. And goddamn they are both so SEXY. I’m very happy they got their ending together.

Born of the Blood and Ash is a finale. There’s some great elements to it and I’m glad Sera and Ash got the ending they deserve. Unfortunately, it lacks in pacing and there’s so much info-dump, it’s hard to get into and results in alot of skimming on my end.
