Beautiful world-building & interesting characters, but it was written in such a confusing way, I needed help keeping up with everything. The book is split into two points of view, but it should've been 2 separate books.

This book is about two women who live 1000 years apart, fullfilling a prophecy of the two queens. What I really enjoyed about this book is the two pov from two different time periods. Each pov felt like a different story, one with a dark and sinister undertone, while the other felt like a classic ya chosen one story. I felt very invested in each girls story and I’m really excited to find out what happens in the series.
Although this is YA there is some graphic spicy scenes in the book. The characters are 18+ but if you don’t want spice in your books I would not pick this up.
Will be continuing the series.

Something about Furyborn just didn't quite work for me.
The story was interesting and it managed to keep my attention, but while reading it I couldn't help noticing things I wish had been different. I also felt myself grow frustrated with both main characters, and had a hard time getting attached to either fo them because of the switching back and forth.
The concept of telling the story of two people within a universe but a thousand years apart is something that really drew me to this book. I ended up really liking how some things about Rielle's life were spoken about in Eliana's chapters. Seeing the difference between the reality and the myths that came out of them was fun, though I wish it was explored a bit more. But for the most part, I didn't really get the feeling these two characters were really a thousand years apart in time. I was expecting more of a difference in the world. I think some of it was there in technology (guns were only mentioned in Eliana's chapters, I think, but only rarely) but it wasn't there as much as I would have liked. I felt like this part of the story was the most interesting part, and it felt too glossed over for me. I couldn't easily tell which chapter I was in by the setting, but only really by the characters involved in the chapter.
There were a lot of side characters I really liked, but I had some trouble connecting to the two main women. Mostly Eliana was hard for me to connect to. I understood that she made hard choices to survive, but it often felt like she did more horrible things than were strictly necessary, which made it hard for me to like her. Rielle I liked at first, but she continued to make stupid decisions which made me dislike her more as the book went on. The characters kind of swapped places in my head about which I liked better.
One last thing I didn't love about this book was the romance. I felt a little more for Rielle's romantic plot, but soon grew tired fo it. Eliana's I didn't like at all.
All in all, I'm giving this book three stars despite having quite a few problems with it. Because even though a lot of this bothered me, I still felt invested in the story and enjoyed it to an extend. But I have no idea if that interest will last until the sequel comes out. I might pick it up, but that really depends on how I feel about this book in hindsight by the time it comes out.

Spoiler
The sex scene between Rielle and Audric was one of the cringiest I have ever read. Only the one in the Throne of Glass series comes to mind as worse.Spoiler
I would have greatly preferred if she and Simon had become more of a mentor/friendship relationship. Especially because he is so much older than herAll in all, I'm giving this book three stars despite having quite a few problems with it. Reread: still love it just as much as the first time.
Furyborn follows two timelines, one with Rielle, and the other is 1000 years later with Eliana. Rielle is undergoing trials to prove that she is the Sun Queen, and Elliana is a bounty hunter on a quest to find out why women are disappearing, and to deliver the Princess, Navi, home.
What I Loved:
-SIMON!!
-ELLIANA. she was such a bitch

Rielle an Eliana live a thousand years apart but seem connected in some way.
I have to start saying that this book was not entirely for me, it’s not the style I like nor the characterization I usually end up loving. It took me a while to finish and, in the end, I didn’t really feel close to any character. I didn’t hate this book per se, I just didn’t feel a lot when I read it.
I loved Eliana’s parts and almost hated Rielle’s chapters, I thought that Eliana was way more likable, less superficial and way more interesting that Rielle. The character I like the most was Corien, but Simon was a close second. I found them to be the only ones coherent through the entire book.
The main thing that actually made this book bad for me was the continuous alternating of chapters of Rielle and Eliana. I always struggled to keep up with those and I didn’t like the author’s choice to do that. I wish there were more chapters of one character one after another. And so you know, I don’t usually mind reading different characters’ pov (Six of Crows for example), but I think it was not the right choice in this book (my opinion).
I struggled a bit with the style, definitely not the one I prefer. I found it to be a little too much, like the author was trying to give us more than what I think was necessary. The plot overall was amazing, I didn’t struggle with it, and actually found it quite original, even though I didn’t understand some choices of the characters.
Will I read the sequel? Maybe when the last one is out, so I can read all the books together.
Will I recommend this book? Yes, I think a lot of people may enjoy this style and plot.
Final vote: 3,25/5

Hmmm. I am conflicted. This can fall anywhere between a 2⭐ and a 4⭐ book.
My brain tells me to like this. My heart doesnt really.
It's impressive that the plot even made sense with all of the back and forth that was happening with the two timelines. However, I think because we constantly kept flip flopping that I never felt too invested in story overall or any of the characters.
I warmed up to Eliana as a POV, but never got fully invested in Rielle.
I have not lost hope for the series and will continue to see how it develops and how the story concludes. Buuuut finishing the series isn't too high on the priority list.
