Had been waiting to read this and it did not disappoint. I actually might read the rest of the series despite me not giving one flying damns about the romance. That's how good the plot is and how interesting I found the characters.
Took me a second to figure out what was happening with the two primary characters. Author did a great job storytelling and building out the different personalities; sub-par narration with the audiobook. Definitely moving onto the second book.

Couldn’t get over the fact the beginning is killing off the main character.
This was a really good fantasy, with a rich backstory without seeming too complicated, and compelling characters. Highly recommend, can't wait to start the second one!

I loved the badass women in this book. A very griping fantasy series. I only wished the author could stay a bit longer on each character in between chapters. Just when I finally get into the world and mind of one character, the story switches entirely. The world in different timelines could have been more distinct but you can't really tell other than one world had magic and the other didn't. But this book did a great job of foreshadowing new adventures and mysteries. I typically don't have patience for books that somewhat revealed a character's ending at the very beginning of the book. But I can't help but wonder if that ending may now change with the direction and the story building! I definitely did not expect the new anticipation I felt by the end of this book!
