I finished this book last night. It’s the first book in a long while that makes me want to start it all over again.

I liked this, but I feel like others from him are stronger. I know my middle schooler loved it (which is why I picked it up), so I may just wildly not be the audience for this 😂
Ten interconnected vignettes about kids from the same primary school. There's levity - pranks, jokes, grossness - but there is darkness too, as the children have experienced challenges such as parental illness, homophobia, anxiety and bullying. In this I am reminded of Jacqueline Wilson's stories.
Perhaps it's the large cast, but I think this book has the rhythm and sounds of a play, and would work well in performance.

I may have to read this one as well as the audiobook. Several different stories narrated by some pretty big names in audiobook narration. All coming together at the end.

This was a really great story for kids about perspective. Each chapter shows a student or group of students leaving school and what/where their walk home takes them. It’s an important reminder that we all have a lot more going on than anyone else realizes.
I’m not going to rate it. I just thought it was meh, but never finished it.
This middle-grade book hits all the right notes! Told in a series of 10 stand-alone short stories that touch on different aspects and challenges of middle-school kids. Each of the stories has enough drama and angst to keep a young reader captivated yet not so much to be even close to overwhelming.
I loved that each story had a subtle foreshadowing to a later one. It created a "hey! that's from the story about...!" feeling that connected the characters and added depth to the experience.
I listened to the book and thoroughly enjoyed the readers. I think they all added to the experience with their understanding of the culture in which these kids live. I know that I gained much from their performances.
This would be a great book for students starting in about 4th grade - especially those who are starting to see how different everyone is and beginning to wonder where they fit.

I really enjoyed this book. I struggled a little bit while listening as it as each chapter was a different character. Keeping track of how all the characters wove together was a challenge for me. May have been a better book to read versus listen — the flip side being that it’s always enjoyed to hear different voices for different characters.
