Mesmerizing portrait of the complex, tender, and boisterous lives of a neighborhood’s middle schoolers. Highly recommended for ages 9-13.

Reynolds doesn't disappoint with his newest book. In a series of short stories all connected Jason gives us such great characters and laugh out loud moments. My favorite is the story that starts with all the pros and cons of riding the school bus.

Short stories done Reynolds-style, so obviously they're moving and funny and REAL. I cried twice and laughed more than that. Glad he's doing more middle grade.

Fabulous middle school book in which each "chapter" is a new tale. Normally I don't like short stories but these are all connected through the school the characters attend and the neighborhoods they live in. Easy to read, hard-hitting yet amusing, and a peek into lives I need more exposure to.

While this book has serious topics sprinkled throughout, it’s such an ode to joy. It’s nice to be invited on a walk home with these kids and hear their inner thoughts and conversations.

3.5 stars. I loved the interwoven stories told in alternating viewpoints. I was waiting for them to come together in a more cohesive way.

I think it’s a cute collection of stories that are all slightly intertwined. Written for elementary students, innocent stories of their days after school and how they spend their time.

Unpopular opinion: not my favorite. I know these are short stories, but this just didn't do it for me.

First, I love Jason Reynold's writing. I have read everything he has written and will continue to do so until forever. His latest offering is a patchwork of sorts. There are ten short stories following ten different characters on their walk home from school over ten. If you read carefully, you will see the other characters in the background of each tale.
I wish that the stories would have come together at the end a bit more memorably. The audio book was done really well with a different all-star narrator taking on each story.
