Jason Reynolds has an incredible way of writing like he’s inside the mind of a middle/high schooler & this set of ten short stories that intertwine in the smallest details is no different. A great reminder that you never know what a person is going through!

Ten beautifully told stories about walking home from school, covering ten different blocks. The stories interweave and connect in subtle ways as full view of the neighborhood comes into focus. What a lovely look at diversity, the fibers that connect us to our community, and the things that each of us carry—be them seen or unseen.

I will read anything with Jason Reynolds name on it. This collection of intertwined short stories does not disappoint. With great care, a little humor, and complete honesty, Reynolds tackles serious issues like cancer, abuse, bullying, poverty, and lgbt issues. Readers are sure to see themselves in one of the many characters whose lives we get a glimpse of as they head home from school. Just lovely.

Although I've loved his poetry and novels, I think Jason Reynolds' true masterpiece are his short stories. This collection of ten interwoven short stories is my favorite Reynolds book yet.

Very fun, and a lot of heart.
Can you ever go wrong with a Jason Reynolds book though?

Love this new book from Jason Reynolds. More detail to follow

DID NOT FINISH

absolutely nothing happens in this book. watching a security camera from a street corner would give you the same knowledge as reading this book. it was meaningless encounters of people conversing. i TRIED to find sense in this book and read between the lines, but it wasn’t happening.

it didn’t even read like middle-grade. middle grade might be shallow sometimes, but even i can sense there’s a dent. there’s no dent in this book. it’s random conversations that i fail to understand

bottom line: go watch a security camera. it will be plenty more interesting.
