I enjoyed this classic, though it did take me a while to get through it. A magical tale with some very important and interesting message. Not my favourite but definitely enjoyable!

One more book I remember reading many, many years ago (and watching the movie) and I retained a fond memory of it. And it is still, charming and lovely - the equivalent of a contemporary feel good book !
What attracts me most, nowadays, about this book is that the children are not nice children at the beginning (the adult's fault, mainly, they are too spoiled and left on their own). And of course, I love animals and gardens and the whole story has some sort of magic flavour to it.
It's also full of humour, grumpy gardeners, wonderful mothers of 12 children, squirrels, birds and more. A treat.

Clearly ahead of its time, the Secret Garden reveals what many holistic healers and psychologists have dared to suggest about health. It's all in your head! Your brain controls your body and so it's not unwise to think that by positively changing your attitude you can positively change your health. I remember seeing the film in the 90's and enjoying the secretive aspect of it but as an adult, reading the book has shown me what the story is really about and to that I give five stars. Superbly written.
