I did end up enjoying this book but I think some areas felt a little more slow than others and I wanted to move along. Loved the mystery element!

The big reveal at the end feels a little bit odd, considering the relationship between fact/fiction and stories that the book earlier sets up, but the thematic aspect of it works well enough for me!

Loved "The Storyteller's Death" by Ann Dávila Cardinal! This generational saga set in 1970's Puerto Rico is full of secrets, scandals, and magical realism. The beautiful prose and deep themes make it a must-read. Isla, the main character, shows us the power of storytelling and breaking toxic cycles. The book brings Puerto Rico to life with its rich characters and touches of magic.
