i like when mysteries focus the job and have the romance in the background. also these two just met.
I enjoyed the plot and the characters. Morgan Brice usually has some interesting stories to tell, and the characters are people I would like to meet. I would appreciate a little more show, and a little less tell in the story.
The narration was nicely performed, and John Solo's different voices suit the characters.

2.5 stars. Mostly for plot.
I didn’t hate it, but the narration was so bland that I couldn’t tell the people apart. I just don’t care enough about the MCs to try an ebook version instead

Ghosts Among Us
Murder, cursed hotels, haunted houses, danger, intrigue and most of all, love. Ben was an ex-police detective turned PI. Erik used to recover stolen art and investigate art frauds. Both moved to Cape May for a change in career and way of life. With them, they bring a whole lot of trouble as strange things start happening.
Erik has some special skills that help him with his antiquities business and make him fit right in with Cape May. Ben is more cautious in believing things that can’t be seen. The two have an instant connection from their first encounter, but their fragile bond is tested when Ben is forced to reevaluate how he sees the world.
I like how patient Ben is, how he listens and doesn’t judge Erik when he opens up. Erik is sweet and I hope he learns how to grow into his skills. Their journey to be together is a slow burn with lots of yummy tension, including some hot phone calls, as they keep trying to be together, but life interferes. They also each have past issues they are working through but when they are together they help each other heal.
I want to visit Cape May and try all this food, maybe go on some ghost tours. I love a mystery and combine it with paranormal happenings, it’s a win-win! A fun read by Morgan Brice and a great start to a new series.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job. I enjoyed the first book in the Treasure Trail series.
3.5 stars!
This is a start of another new Morgan Brice series, but it is intermingled with her other series. Both Eric & Ben are in Cape May to start a new. They frlt in instant connection when they first met in a bar and when they meet again at Eric's shop. They both have law enforcement backgrounds, and are brought together by a case. Eric can see an objects past and that leads them to a cold case. As they work together, they become closer, and keep getting interrupted as things start to heat up.
I loved the side characters, especially Sean & Susan. I loved learning about Cape May and its many ghosts. There wasn't much of a mystery and that didn’t get going till near the end. Their background stories are very similar and reminded me of the Badlands series in that regard. I am definitely reading the next book and the novella; I need to see what happens next.

A new series by Morgan Brice expanding on her Badland world were things that go bump in the night for real. It starts with Erik moving into his new start an antique shop, on his first night out he meets Ben who is beginning his own new start, they meet again when Ben takes an antique clock to the shop. This not only start a relationship but a mystery involving a long demolished hotel.
I really enjoy Morgan Brice’s paranormal series, As she mixes romance and ghostly mysteries really well adding in some humour and fun, steamy moments this is one series I can’t wait to read more of.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Erik was in need of a fresh start after coming home early to find his then boyfriend and assistant together. Moving from Atlanta to Cape May new york seemed the best answer at the time. Ben is taking a break from his ex law enforcement/ PI work after being burnt out from it. When me two meet in a bar by mistaken identity from Erik, can Ben get the little antique dealer out of his head. When the two meet again sparks more the fly this time. When ghost need help, Ben and Erik may can help. It's good to hear from Simon from the Badland's series in this so great a read high recommendations.
