Despite Christie herself stating in her autobiography that Ordeal by Innocence is one of her favourite novels, I wasn't too fussed about it to be completely honest. It was a pretty standard cold case type mystery for me, and I was entertained, but not to the level I expected I would be. Maybe that's where the problem lies - my expectations were simply set too high going in. It also may be that because I read it all in one sitting, the story kind of ran together in my mind. But I am by no means disappointed that I read Ordeal by Innocence, and it is still a Christie I would recommend.

More like 3.5-3.75 for me. While reading this, I thought about how much of a brilliant contrast this is to Crooked House. Really loved the execution and the themes explored here especially how their dysfunctional family survived and the "calamity of the innocents". If there's one thing I probably don't like that much is the romance subplots that feel forced for me. Still an enjoyable read and this was so beautifully written!

Christie called it one of her favorites. I thought it was so-so for her. It paces a bit slow in the beginning but moved along. The cast of characters is great. So much subtly & dysfunction, starting with the victim, who haunts everyone throughout. The multiple perspectives, as opposed to a Poirot or Marple type whodunnit was also refreshing from Christie.
