this book was SO GOOD. It was real slow in some parts (the beginning of Foundation and Empire, for example) but it was really interesting. It felt like a galactic chess match. Highly recommend to science fiction and sociology fans.
It's Isaac Asimov what else can you expect from the Grand Master of Science Fiction himself? I will say this of the Foundation series, which I am still reading, the prequels were better. While the three books of the main trilogy are fantastic, Asimov shines when he focuses on one character and really expands them. He does this best in the prequel novels Prelude to Foundation and Forward the Foundation. Excellent books nonetheless a timeless classic that should be read to all future generations.
This is a compendium, but so far I’ve finished the first book (Foundation). The other two included in this trilogy are “Foundation & Empire” and “Second Foundation”. I enjoyed this first one enough that I’ll probably read the other two. Honestly, I’m most disappointed in the annoyances that make it “typical of its time”: the lack of women characters (all the main characters are cocky dudes with genius-level strategies up their sleeves)...
Ugh. Literally could hardly wait to finish this: dull, plodding, nothing but 2 people sitting in a room talking about history and politics.
Devo confessar que em alguns momentos eu me senti um pouco perdida, porque nós temos grandes saltos no tempo e nesses saltos no tempo nós conhecemos novos personagens dos quais nós vamos acompanhar por um breve tempo até o próximo salto temporal da história. Mas esses saltos são totalmente compreensíveis, pois nós estamos acompanhando o cumprimento das "profecias" de Hari Seldon, de que o Império iria cair e um novo iria surgir e a criação da Fundação servia para fazer com que o período de trevas que deveria durar apenas mil anos ao invés dos trinta mil inicialmente previstos. Então nós vamos vendo que a cada crise Seldon, as coisas estavam indo de acordo com o plano, até que parou de ser assim e assim como todos os habitantes da Fundação, eu me vi extremamente surpresa e sem saber o que pensar, pois a premissa que temos é que o Plano Seldon é praticamente imbatível e impossível de não dar certo, pois tudo foi previsto através da Psico-história.
Se em determinados momentos eu não tivesse me sentido um pouco perdida e parecendo que eu não estava entendendo o que estava acontecendo, com certeza seria um 5 estrelas.

This serie made me read all of his work. He is decent at the start, then once you tried some of his crack-books you are addicted.
