Beginning was slow, middle to end was very fast. Timeline seems to jump forward at irregular intervals, but the story still makes sense and is captivating.
Surprisingly moving. I cried at what I thought was the end, and cried again at what was actually the end.
My favorite book of all time. The main character perfectly reflects the conflicting human needs to pursue desire while also continuing to see ourselves as a "good" person. And the romance - oh boy - is exquisite.
3.5 stars. I enjoyed the story more than the character. I appreciated her struggle, but kept feeling a bit annoyed with how much she was romanticizing the new relationship. Loved how the ultimate decision wasn't revealed until the end.

Not a perfect book! Dwells too long on things that do not matter to the reader ( architecture) and the internal dialog is a tad repetitive but I really connected with this book. It was much funnier than I thought and I saw myself in Merit a lot. I have an ex very similar to Cory (scarily similar) so this book feels like what would have happened to me if I married said ex as a potential lesbian. Solid book! Would recommend!
