First off, thank you for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! From the description, I had expected it to be really good, and while it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. A lot of the story made me uncomfortable, mainly because I felt the romantic aspect of the story did not feel natural. I love LGBT in a book, and will read as many books with representation as I can. However, I felt that the relationship between the two women did not have to develop into a romantic one; I think it would’ve been better if Jane had guided Merit on the way to finding out her true self instead of being the reason she did so. While there were aspects of this book I didn’t like, I did like how this book showed Merit as being able to step away from being a stay at home mother back into work, and how her husband was encouraging her to do so.

This was an unexpected gem. I love the way this author writes. Merit, Jane, and Cory felt like real people to me. And bonus it’s set in SF! There are a few plot points that I could have enjoyed more if played out differently but all in all I enjoyed this a lot.
This was an advanced reader's copy, unbiased review etc
I really went through a lot of feelings about this book while reading it, but ended up really liking it. It was so stressful, but i think intentionally so! I managed to have sympathy for basically none of the characters but the kids and still enjoy it, which is UNUSUAL for me and i think speaks to the overall writing and pacing.

I received a free copy of this book, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book is the story of a wife and mother who is bored and unhappy with her life until she falls in love with her (female) boss. It's a well written book that keeps you turning the pages, but I found it very hard to sympathize with any of the characters. It's one of those books where all the characters are objectively terrible, and you sit back and watch them ruin everything while shaking your head and not really caring all that much that they do.
I can't say that I'm personally a huge fan of this book since I found myself constantly disgusted with all the characters' choices and didn't like the ending, but this is a quality book that many people will likely enjoy.
