Such a good book. I need to read this again. This is the first McMurtry I read, but not the last. I also loved the TV mini-series. Robert Duvall was great as Gus

Wow! What a ride. Never knew I’d like a Western but Lonesome Dove does such a good job of drawing you in with its characters that it is easily bigger than its genre. I felt all sorts of emotions along the way, but even in the bitterest moments, this book still made me wanna be a cowboy. 10/10.

Long slow roll contemporary. Not my favourite setting for a novel but I’m glad I buckered down for the story of all their lives intertwining

Felt like I’d ridden from the Rio Grande to Montana and back by the end but what a terrific story. Thoroughly enjoyable and made the dark January evenings fly by.
