Keeping it interesting

For a book spanning 1000 years it's written wonderfully. It was never full of filler or wasted text. It was all pertinent to the end.

I'm bailing out here. I'm so frustrated and torn by this series. On one hand, I love the world that the author has built. It's interesting and intriguing -- makes you think. On the other hand, the protagonists are SO INCREDIBLY ANNOYING. Their motives are always pure. Their motives are always good. They do whatever is right, cost to themselves be damned.

Barf. It's just nauseating and, worse, completely unbelievable. I ended up skimming through the last third of the book to get through the constant reminders about what good people Will and Hope are. And I just can't imagine stomaching another 3 books of this.

To top it all off, the author's plot instruments are oftentimes clumsy and requires the reader to overlook SIGNIFICANT gaps in the plot or to suspend disbelief almost past the point of reason.

Thanks, but I'm out.

Very enjoyable

I keep being unable to stop reading despite the relentlessness of ahistorical moments in this series. I guess it's the sign of a good author that even things that strain my suspension of disbelief don't impede my desire to know how it all turns out. Well done, Alex Albrinck.
