I opted to check out the audiobook in the spirit of Halloween. It grabbed my attention before I remembered Victoria Schwab is a YA author. I listen to books during my commutes sometimes, and as I was dropping off my 13yo son at school it piqued his interest and then it did the same for my 9-1/2yo daughter when I was delivering her to volleyball practice. She even picked up a print copy at her school book sale today and surprised me, and her brother, with it tonight. We will all be reading it and the next book in the series as well. The audio was a great listen as well.

This is a unique plot and fun for the intended age group. Cassidy Blake can see ghosts, in fact, her bestie is a ghost himself. When Cassidy travels with her family to Edinburgh to make a TV series, ironically, about ghosts and the paranormal, she begins to confront more powerful ghosts. It’s not entirely clear why a powerful ghost called The Raven becomes particularly enamored with Cassidy, but she will confront her darkest fears in escaping.

I sorely wish I had written a review in 2019. I remember Cass, Jake, Laura, and their Edinburgh adventures left an impression. I found this book cute, engaging, and enlightening re: new ghost mechanics I’ve never seen before. Cassidy Blake has a different experience than say, Mikey McGill (a ghost from another series, Everlost)
