I didn’t think so, but I ended up liking this one more than the first one. For one there was a proper story, and I felt less morally questionable given that the bad things were bad and the good things were good enough if that makes sense? Addie finally felt like a proper character and became a badass by the end but Zade does still talk too much like a cartoon character for me to take him seriously, but I am interested in Sonny’s story - ngl

Editors. Just. Get some, editors. There were so many terribly written sentences, horrible similes and metaphors, and cringe-worthy moments of dialogue that I had to highlight all of them just to make myself feel as though I wasn’t as crazy as fucking Sibby. Since I powered through book one, I felt duty-bound to read this one and finish the duology but god it was a Herculean effort. The plot of the story is still intriguing, although Adeline’s captivity goes on for a bit longer than I feel is truly necessary. I do love the characters, especially Jay and Sibby. Also, there are a few very sexy one-liners during the sex scenes but even those were made less intriguing and spice-filled because of the multitude of errors throughout.

Just wow! When I finished this duet, I was so sad it was over. And, I was so stunned that I fell in love with a stalker. Definitely buckle up for a WILD freaking ride if you pick up this duet.

This book has whole heartedly changed me.
I'm going to try write this review as in depth as I can without giving anything way, i'll get back to you when in done.
Spoilers?: yeah no you’re safe don’t worry.

Off the back of Haunting Adeline obviously H.D Carlton left us with our butts on the edge of our seats, our jaws on the floor and our hearts in our mouth.
Throughout haunting Adeline, I'm not sure about anyone else but I developed such an emotional connection to the characters Adeline and Zade, in the Hunting Adeline this connection and understanding is only deepened, thoroughly.

Hunting Adeline gets very sad, traumatic, heartbreaking and all round just deep as f**k, very fast.
Right from the first chapter seen from 'The Diamond' aka Adeline, we're thrown into the beginning of her soon to be raging PTSD. The events that Adeline both whiteness' and becomes a victim to truly pulls your heart out, H.D is very good at explaining these events and almost making you feel like you are truly experiencing it.

I said this in my review for Haunting Adeline and i'll say it again... this book is not for the faint hearted! However now I truly mean it, again without giving too much away, If you or anyone your close with have had experiences with g,rape, as brilliant as this book was, please don't read it if you have even the slightest suspicion that it could effect you, chances are it will.

The book does get more lighthearted (if thats even possible when speaking about H.D Carlton's work).

Pulling this to a close, while this book was still incredible, it did make me cry at times, it did make me feel physically unwell at times but it as also completely changed the way I view a lot of things.
I'd say this book is a real eye opener to the real world and the sort of things that can happen or do happen without our acknowledgement.

I loved this book so so so much and I hope other people also see it in the way I did.

If you've made it to the end of this review, thank you, and do send me a friend request as I love connecting with people that share the same interests.

2⭐️4🌶️(different type of spice than book 1, not in a positive way)
I read an article a few years ago about the show the handmaid’s tale being torture porn. I felt similarly about this book, specifically part 1. I almost DNFed 20% in bc of this and I have never DNFed anything before. Honestly, I’m not sure even sure how these books got published, the torture part of the book is that graphic. I think it probably could’ve been on wattpad and I would’ve been less shocked reading it on there. If you’re looking for a romance, this is not the series for you. Almost every single spicy scene in book 2
uses blood/knife play, which was a little heavy for me. I was disappointed there was almost no sweet reunion between the main characters.
This book deals HEAVILY on the trauma Addie faces during and after
she has been abducted into a sex trafficking ring.
I liked zade’s character development in this book, and we see him as much more than a stalker who has no choice but to give into his darkest desires. Multiple times he says he’ll burn down the world if it means he can save Addie. I don’t like it’s just thrown out there how jay’s character is bi, I wish we could’ve seen him get together with Michael or something! I probably could’ve skipped the whole series, but definitely could’ve skipped this book and just have read the cliff notes or given them a HEA in my headcanon at the end of book 1. I won’t be rereading due to intense dark themes and graphic details. There’s dark romance, and then there’s this series. Please don’t let your teenagers read this🫶
