This book is dark and hardcore. Addie and Zade return and even more Darkness is shared between them, Trigger Warning! Please read with caution if you are not prepared to read dark topics surrounding SA, Sex trafficking and abuse. This story is a-lot more intense than the first. Im glad I finished this duo-logy and was able to find out how Adeline’s Story ends.

Calling all "Haunting Adeline" fans! "Hunting Adeline" by HD Carlton is a must read for you after Haunting, the thrilling sequel wrapping up Zade and Addy's adventure. Keep those trigger warnings in mind; this book delves into heavy themes, so buckle up. But if you're ready for the ride, get ready to be emotionally rocked. Intense and dark, this sequel takes suspense up a notch, though be aware that the first half could challenge those triggers. As the finale of the Cat and Mouse Duet, the tension skyrockets as Addy faces danger and hidden truths. We get the dual POV from the fist book which is awesome because I always want more Zaddy in my life. HD Carlton's immersive writing thrusts you into the fray, ensuring a satisfying conclusion despite the darkness. To sum it up, "Hunting Adeline" is a deep dive into darkness, self-discovery, and justice—get ready for an unforgettable journey.

First of all, this book is definitely not for everyone. Before you decide to read Haunting Adeline or Hunting Adeline, PLEASE read the trigger warnings first!! This is a VERY dark romance, so please keep that in mind! I definitely have to say that this book was way darker than the first & I did not expect a lot of it.

The story starts off immediately where the first book ends.. This book takes place over several months filled with dark and REALLY disturbing events that Addie had to go through– it was honestly so hard for me to read this book all in one go. I kept having to take breaks because of how graphic and descriptive the scenes were. That’s how well-written this book was, it literally brought tears to my eyes & really had me feel the pain the characters had to go through.

Zade Meadows is absolutely hands down 100% my FAVE book boyfriend!! This man would literally walk through a burning building just to get his girl back and I absolutely love it. Addie & Zade are honestly the best couple ever & I love how they just fit together. Thinking back to the beginning of the first book and comparing how Addie’s character was, she has grown sooo much in terms of her confidence and just how she is as a person.

H.D. Carlton did an AMAZING job with this duet & I’m so sad it’s over now. I cannot wait to read more of her other books! I will forever recommend this book to anyone who can handle reading dark romances such as this one.

okay i actually really liked this book and enjoyed a lot more than the first! i'm not sure if it was because i was already invested in the story or what, but i did and i'm happy about it!
i was worried it would be like 90% addie experiencing human trafficking and 10% zade and addie being together, but it was more 50/50

zade was my favorite character, i really admire his devotion for addie and supporting her through literally ANYTHING, and honestly i was getting convinced of his moral code by the end of this shit
addie went through SO much in this book, my poor girl. i felt so bad for her during the first half especially, and i felt so conflicted when she wouldn't let zade touch her, my heart was lowkey breaking for both of them. when she had that big outburst at zade after the conversation with her dad, i was so annoyed with her, but i get it, she's living with trauma and just trying her best fr

i'm so glad sibby showed up again! who the HELL is kraven though?? is there another book coming out that i haven't heard about??? i'm gonna have to check

Are these worth the hype?
Yes, but for me, it was the plot that kept me reading rather than the MCs.

The books pack in a lot over the duet. Book 1 starts off as an easy read. It's quite entertaining in areas and has a murder mystery to be solved. Book 2 is where it gets much heavier with a focus on trauma and revenge.

The relationship with the MCs is what let the books down for me. It starts off well/entertaining, but over the course of the books, it doesn't develop all that much. Addie has huge character growth after experiencing extensive trauma, zade is kind of stagnant. As separate characters, they're fine. Together, it doesn't quite mesh for me. By the end of the books, I was over their toxic love/hate BS and wanted it to be over.

Before you read these, you should check the TWs because these books contain dark themes like human trafficking along with all the horrors that come with that. The author does not shy away from what happens and writes in graphic detail.
Personally, I enjoyed how dark these books were, but they're not for everyone.
