I sort of skim read this. It's a very faithful adaptation which is technically good but it made it a boring read. Especially because it lacks the charming narration and writing from the original book. And I'm really not a fan of the art at all. Hopefully the new GN coming out in 2019 will have art that I like more.

Love it so much! Now I desperately want to read the books!

I always love when there is a graphic novel adaptation of a book, just so that you can see someone else's vision for the source. The original book had quite a bit of descriptive world building in it and it was cool to see the graphic novel's artwork express that so well. This was a great way to re-live the story and it made me grow closer to the source book as well. I recommend.

Will have to investigate reading the book now.

Back when I was in High School many of my friends were big fans of the Artemis Fowl novels but for some reason I never picked them up. Now that I have read the GN (which I quite liked) I think I am going to read the real books too.

A must read for those who loved the original series. & let's face it, who doesn't love a good villian? Recommended for grades 3 - 5.

This definitely was better than the novel. I didn’t really enjoy the character of Artemis. However I understood this one a lot better. I enjoyed the art and flow of the graphic novel. I understand the appeal of this series especially for younger adventure seeking readers, it still isn’t my jam but I see the appeal.

Artemis Fowl is a young, super genius who comes from a wealthy family. After the mysterious disappearance of his father, Artemis works to restore his family's crumbling fortune. Artemis learns of the existence of faries, and late one night he kidnaps one. He learns the fairy is named Holly Short, and she is a part of a fairy police force. The faries wage war with Artemis, fighting for the freedom of their beloved Holly Short. Artemis gives the Faries an ultimatum he will release Holly for a large sum of fairy gold.
I enjoyed this graphic novel. This was the first graphic novel that I read, and I was glad I picked this one. I grew up reading the Artemis Fowl books, and seeing them in picture form was a different experience. I enjoyed seeing pictorial representations of all the characters I know and love. I thought the graphic novel was easier to understand than the actual novel, and it cleared up many things I found confusing in the novel version. The pictures were in vivid colors and fun to look at. I would definitely read another graphic novel.

I got my copy of the graphic novel at the London MCM Expo and met Eoin Colfer and one of the illustrators (both signing my copy) it was actually really great. The style isn't what I usually like however, but I had a fun time reading it. I'll just stick to the book. Three stars because Artemis is always awesome no matter what.
