I remember really loving this series in middle school, despite the fact that I was not a fan of any type of fantasy at the time. I wanted to refresh my memory before the movie comes out, so I decided to pick up the graphic novel as a quick read. I didn't love it, but I'm not sure if that was just the GN format which I'm not as used to or if it was condensed or altered from the original. I would have liked to see more of the fairy underground, but that might not be until later books.

I read the novel a while ago and enjoyed it. This wasn’t as good wich for mesas partly because of the drawing style and the story felt like it was missing something.

Fun way to experience Artemis Fowl. It's been quite awhile since I read the books so the replacement of my hazy visualizations of characters and settings was not objectionable. I suppose if I were an ardent fan, I might balk.

Interesting adaptation - graphics were well done

I never read the novel, but I thoroughly enjoyed the graphic novel. I had no preconceived notions of what the characters should look like, so I had no disappointments. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!!

I really like this graphic novel version of the book, but I like the novel better. Eoin Colfer worked on this as well, and it has retains a lot of the sharp dialogue from the original version.

I'm kind of unable to judge this book on graphic novel alone because I remember (and like) the book so much, and they really are quite close (Colfer helped adapt it for the graphic novel form).
When flipping through this book fast, I wasn't that impressed. I thought it looked too text heavy, images weren't overly catching, and panel formations were a bit boring. However, in actually reading it, I didn't feel it was at all text heavy and I moved through it very happily and quickly.
I enjoy that this book was a global effort! OK, kind of just different places in Europe and USA, but I still think it's so cool that comic book artist, colorists, and writers can all live in their own homes and work together to make one cohesive comic. DREAM JOB. Moving on with the review...

It was absolutely delightful to see the trolls, goblins, etc., in here-I didn't succeed very well in picturing them when I read it, but the graphic novel does it beautifully. It's great to have the visuals for species I don't know how to imagine because I've never seen them! I was disappointed in Foaly though 'cause he's one of my favorite characters and I wanted him to be cute, but he so wasn't. :p

Anyways, a nice edition to add to the Fowl books.
