The way Sheila writes without forcing you to read pages of world-building at the beginning is new to me, but also refreshing! You are immediately integrated into the story without delay. I can see how it would be harder to write this way vs the former so I’m impressed!

Tropes:
  • love triangle - better written than Twilight
  • One horse
  • He falls first - my one neg was it felt a bit insta-love, but the banter was so good it was easy to overlook
  • Forced proximity forbidden romance
  • Bada$$ FMC - and Cece is the coolest fmc I’ve read in a while.

The emotional rollercoaster you travel along will take you for an amazing ride. Beware of triggers, listed at the front of the book, and don’t get attached to any secondary characters… or at least I’m trying not to after book 1! 😭

Song that reminds of this book: Ruin my Life by Zara Larsson

I cannot say enough good things about this book. It hits you right in your feels from the very first chapter. I could not devour this book fast enough.

I’m not usually a fan of the love triangle trope but the way this one is written is just too good not to love. The way each character dives deep into their feelings and expressing them is just *chefs kiss* My heart doesn’t know whether to want Xander or Rainer because they each love her so passionately in their own ways and desire to protect her and take care of her.

Cece is one of my favorite fmc ever written. I strive to love those close to me as selflessly as she does. This book had so many twists and turns and some I didn’t see coming. As an avid reader it’s hard for me to be surprised in books so I really love when I get hit with one!

Favorite Quote: “You’re right. You’re much braver than I am. You’re smart and kind and a little violent and so incredibly brave. I’m in awe of you”
