I experienced this book all thanks to three checkouts (two large print book and one audiobook) from the public library. 2021 has not been super easy, and retreating to my room or outside to the the back porch with Barack for a few minutes here and there has been just plain nice and has also offered considerable perspective.

A well written (and narrated) book which is an American presidential history but also pseudo world history book. It gives a perspective to the presidency which is fascinating to understand and get a view into.

4.5 stars - just beautiful how Obama connects personal memories to the importance of what he was trying to achieve politically. The ending about the bin Laden raid was so well connected to what he had discussed throughout the book and tees up nicely his transition to his next book
It’s a long read, but very worth it!

I didn't realize this was only covering part of his first presidential term. I'm looking forward to reading the 2nd volume and gaining more of his personal reflections. Highly recommend listening to the audio book.

Very interesting. I enjoying hearing the thoughts and behind the scenes from our leaders. In true Obama fashion- a lot of words! Which made it a little harder to get through. But still a good book from a good man.
