Well, it took me forever, but I finally finished it! I wasn't very excited to read this book. I liked how the first one ended (even though it was sort of a cliff hanger ending), so I didn't really even want to read the sequel. But I'm too in love with the style of this series, so I read it anyway.
Honestly, it took me a long time to read because the characters' hopelessness made it really hard to get through. Yes, there were some really interesting and exciting parts, but those parts weren't frequent enough for me to read this book as quickly as I would read another book of this length. There was so many "OMG WhAT ARE WE GONNA DO?" parts that I was very close to not finishing this book.
However, I DID finish it. And I DID like it. Ransom did a great job of combining these creepy pictures with a unique story. (And the way the pictures were incorporated with the text was really good, too.) Despite my hesitation about this book, I'm looking forward to reading book #3.

Wonderful 2nd book in the series, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, with all the fast-paced fantasy adventure and bizarre vintage photos in the first book, this time set against a backdrop of WWII London. Read my full review at:

I am SO in love with this series. Intelligently written with a fascinatingly complex story arc and dynamic characters. The plot kept me guessing until the last page! I cannot WAIT to read the next one!!
Hollow City by Ransom Riggs is a fantastical read! Unfortunately, like most second books in trilogies, it suffers a bit from middle child syndrome. It's often hard for a second book to be much more than a bridge between first and third, but I think Hollow City holds its own pretty well. I really enjoyed seeing Jacob grow into his peculiar ability throughout this book and I'm excited to see where the final installment takes him.
The first book in this series started a bit slow, but this one is action packed from beginning to end!
I was hooked on this book as soon as I turned to page 1. I found the first book to be a little slow but picked up to an intense ending. Hollow City however had no slow moments and having just finished the last page I can't believe I have to wait however long to pick up book 3.
Does anyone know when the next book in the series is set to release?
