Loved this book! Even better than the first - I can't wait for the third one to come out. It was exciting and suspenseful and now it is going off on a tangent that I never expected...

A really good sequel. I enjoyed it just as much as the first one and I totally forgot about some of the plot too which was fun because it does feel like I'm reading the series for the first time again

I didn’t love this one QUITE as much as the first one, but the development of peculiars is so intriguing...
Ahhhhhh! My favorite part of this book has to be the character development. I loved learning more about Hugh, Bronwyn, and all the other peculiars. Also, that one picture of the clown (I can't even think about it). Also, that ending! WHY YOU DO THIS RANSOM.
DNF@20%. Why, when I quite liked the first book? Because it takes everything bad from the first book and just meanders around with it. That part at the beginning where they flounder about int he fog, going in circles trying to leave the island? To me, that sums up all of the plot I managed to get through.
I never much cared for the two dimensional side characters, these 100 year old kids with only a name and a trait to separate them, and unfortunately this journey of discovery plot line means we're going to have to spend a lot more time with them being confused by who's who. That and the way they speak got irritating pretty quickly. The found photo elements which added a certain quirky charm to book one felt even more forced into the narrative. All in all it left me feeling bored, dreading picking the book back up, hence the decision to DNF.
If you adored everything about book one, you'll be more likely to get on with this than I did.

I like how this picks up exactly at the point "Miss Pregraine's home for peculiar children" ends. I love it when this happens in books.
Anyways, I was rushing to read this book before the release of the movie in fear of having the movie combine two books or something, but as enjoyable the movie was, it was nothing compared to the thrills in this book, which makes me sad that we may never get to see any of this on screen.
I enjoyed this second book more, since this is where the actual action happens, while the first book was merely a setup for the story. I loved every bit of it and I can't wait to read the third and final book. There's definitely a lot of improvement considering Riggs' writing which is nice.

It lost me a little bit but I was definitely here for the plot and the twist and the turns. I am obsessed. I'm glad I picked up the series
