Better than the first!
I wish the main character were more interesting, but he had a good supporting cast.
Love the places this novel took the reader.

What a snooze.

I enjoyed this more than the first book - it developed the characters further and Jacob was more likable. The romance annoyed me less, maybe because Emma and Jacob's grandfather's relationship was barely mentioned so I was less weirded out.

I wish there was a book just about the ymbrines (or about Miss Peregrine's youth and the early days of her loop) because they are my favorite characters and not in this book enough, hopefully they will be in the next one more! I also hope there's less time between this book and the next in the series as I had forgotten much of the first one because of the 2.5 year time gap.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book but I can't say that there are any great truths in it. it's simply a good story. and I love the photos.

I feel the second novel is stronger than the first. The characters seem to be settling into more complex interactions and arcs. There are a lot of interesting smaller moments of conversations surrounding morality versus survival, too.

I do think the feathery "twist" at the end, despite being excellently executed, felt it cheapened some of the conversations that were had surrounding outcomes of the twist.

I am executed to continue the stories, though.

Althea’s character was wasted.
