I've had this book forever, and I finally felt motivated to read it by watching the film adaptation of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children on the plane ride home from Tokyo.

With the first book in this series, I was so compelled. I was a little creeped out, but I was so compelled. This one took a little to orient myself in, having read the prior so long ago (and needing to untangle the movie from the book). I still found myself compelled, at times, but not as much as before. I think the CONSTANT interruption of plans got a bit annoying to me. Sure, that's the point of the book-- the kids make a little bit of a plan, something goes wrong. It just got formulaic because it happened so often. The twist was good, but played into my frustration.

SpoilerAll I wanted was to see Miss Peregrine in human form again! It's a typical middle book problem. I definitely want to read on, though! Loved the Tales of the Peculiar tie-in.

good second novel follow up. the ending really caught my attention and I am so frustrated I have to wait for the next book to come out! I think Riggs does a great job mixing the pictures, history and fiction altigether. Would recommend this to you and old adults alike!

Good adventure, but not as good as part 1.

Říkám tomu maraton slečny Peregrinové. Tohle bylo hezké. Lepší než jednička, svižněší s větším worldbuildingem a vývojem postav.

it would be 4 stars since it was such an easy book to follow but yeah..

“Strange, I thought, how you can be living your dreams and your nightmares at the very same time.”

2,5/5

Definitely better than the first book. There is action, there is drama, there is adventure, there is romance, there is mystery, there is horror, there is absolutely everything. I enjoyed it very much.

I really enjoyed how the author incorporated the pictures into the story.

I now have read all 3 books. It is a novel (no pun intended) story written around old, odd photographs. I thought they were okay.
