These books are just so fun. Ohohooh! That ending! It just felt right.
This book had some really fun and creative new characters and places introduced. The writing style also improved and felt more... together. I can really feel the magical atmosphere, and this group of kids has stolen my heart a little bit. I wonder how the next book is gonna end!

This book has much more action that the first book-at times it is too much action and I don't necessarily feel that is the authors strong suit. The level of action reminded me of The Hobbit, which I am probably the only person that was annoyed with action in that book as well. I was still entertained with this book and look forward to the third installment.

Історія дивних дітей та Джейкоба продовжується за межами контура, де їх очікує дивовижна та динамічна подорож. Саме так - динамічна. Друга частина наповнена "екшеном", що дало мені змогу більш захопливо читати цю частину, аніж першу.

Героїзм, відвага, кохання, відданість, страх додають цій історії цікавого колориту. Тому сюжет другої книги розкриває кожного із дивних дітей більш детально, даючи цим краще зрозуміти особистості героїв. Нові персонажі, які з'являються впродовж роману, так само є унікальними, як і діти з першої частини, зі своїми неймовірними вміннями, характером та поведінкою.

"Нехай світ збереже собі трохи магії, замість вичавлювати з нього всі до одної таємниці. Може, краще було час від часу чудуватися."

До цієї книги було знято кілька буктрейлерів, які стають все популярнішими під час маркетингової компанії перед випуском книги. Перший трейлер показує вміння Г'ю Епістона у містичному та загадковому стилі.

Загалом Ренсом Ріггз у другій частині показав читачам героїв більш дорослими, особливо Джейкоба та Емму, розвиток сюжету став динамічніший, а кінцівка книги дуже порадувала. Таких моментів хотілося б побільше.

I wanted to give this a two for how much non positivity in this book turned out to be. It was a struggle to get through. It was like a rehash of the first book over and over and over. But more tailored towards one specific part/event. However! The last 100 pages Id say redeemed it to a three.

This book is really good once it gets back to the first 80 pages. Like the first book it takes a chunk of the book to get it going. But it was a fun story. I like the characters but there was so many that some often got forgotten for several pages at a time. It felt like the characters were introduced to be used for a plot point but then could be left behind. So, it was easy to forget that those characters were with them.

This one started off really great and then when we got to the Carnival loop, I wasn't getting the same fantastical YA vibes. Jacob jsut had this level of pathetic about him that was very disheartening or even embarrasing to read. It made sesne considering he is only 16 while the rest of the children are all over 40 years old. But considering a lot of the children look to him as a leader it was very strange in high stress situatitions where he would take the easy way out, not fight back, not believe in himself. I mean Emma just basically told him like a child to give up and he was like yup I can't do anything so sounds like a great idea. He hasn't developed his ability, barely knows anything about this new world he's entered and basically admitted he only stayed and gave up his old life for a girl. Puppy love. Pathetic. However, I loved the other children. Always ready for a fight or for whatever needs to be done. The scenes where they found the two sisters in the abandoned house after the bombings and when they were with the gypsies to most people would seem random and unnecessary but They were actually some of my favorites to read. It really evoked an emotional investment into the story at least for me. Especially the sisters when the children were forced to confront their indifference and what it could cost another person. I was not expecting the end reveal. But also it left me with more questions. Was he just pretending not to transform this entire time or he couldn't as well. Did he purposefully put himself into the water to get rescued by the children or did the wights throw him out? I really need Jacob to grow a pair in the next book.
