Ok, I'm ready to say it: overall this might be my favorite saga of the author. Yes, even when the burnout.

Why's that?
  • The narrator is great. Funny, a liar, pathetic. It's clever and I kinda get what about them could be god-like.
  • Characters we knew and loved got the chance to come back and take the spotlight.
(It does make me wonder just how much complaints the author might've received on that end. You know, just how much of it was fan service.)
  • The constant recognition that a change had occurred and how that would have been face by a "younger" version of the grown characters.
  • We're again introduced to new characters which get enough time to be fleshed out in the page.

As for some things that I didn't quite like, I'll mention the villains.
Specifically Nero. And when I say I don't like him, it's not a thing about how I personally think about him, no. It's just that he had appeared so unreachable, so magnanimous in previous instances... He wasn't that in this book. He quickly turned ridiculous, just how Commodus had. Which, once is fine, two is fishy
.

There's one more thing that I like which I'll mention separately from the list above: I liked the ending. That's a first for me with this author. I think he finally nailed the feeling of finality. (Funnily enough, that last chapter comes with a "godly" warning as to read the sections in whichever order the reader sees fit. I suspect he has been told about his endings enough.) I'm not sure how I feel about the individual contents of each section (in one, a thing that has bother me, content wise, since the last book of the prior saga, is referred and called up as "a thing to fix". Like so, several things were sort of... Nudged in a direction which I suspect comes, again, from listening to the readers and, to an extent, from fan service —there's a difference, I promise—).

I'm gonna miss this saga. I'm gonna miss these characters. And... God spare me, I'm gonna miss the haikus.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! I know I say that all the times with Rick Riodians series but they’re just sooo good!! Especially his last books in the series, he know how to read a good final battle! I love how we got to see more of Apollo with his children and how well they work together. That was sweet to see also we got more Solangelo moments YAYAY THEY ARE SOO CUTE!! Also we got to see Nico being a total badass with this glow in the dark boyfriend (that was fun to read about). I can’t wait for their book, I already know I’m going to love it<3 anyways, the battle with Nero was sooo good. I loved how much Apollo trusted Meg and believed in her to gain back her independent and not let Nero control her anymore alongside helping her foster siblings too. Now to the ultimate final boss battle, that was so intense. I was shocked to realize that Apollo was going to fight him by himself I thought Meg was going to follow but this was so much better. We got to see how much Apollo really changed from being this egotistical guy to now being insecure and selfless hero. I was so nervous then they fall into the Styx river that was really good. Luckily he survive duh but he also become a god again. Seeing him be a god again was interesting because he still the same old Lester again just with powers. It was sweet to see him revisit his friends and see that he still remembers being human. This series was just soo good, seeing him grow more human and become a better god was such a joy to see.
