Loved it.

This is now one of my favourite books. Absolutely loved the characters, the story telling, the beautiful writing.

Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

The Irish still got it, re: storytelling, and I say that as a German. Bleak, magical, great characters, bleak again...but with an element of redemption, even optimism by the end. The point being, I guess, that the great world goes on spinning no matter how much you mess up your own little life. Yay?

LOVED this book.

Beautiful but artificial. Except the Phillipe Petit parts -- some of those I'd kill things to have been the one to have written.

This had some great literary style but none of the characters felt like I could get into their stories. And took me forever to read because of this!
