Captain Riggs is an asshole captain with his own agenda as he leads his crew and ship on a mission to the Outer Darkness - with a few detours on the way.

If you like your sci-fi mixed with horror (of the paranormal/spectral/demonic variety), quantum mathematics wizards, exorcists, and lots of violence, I recommend Outer Darkness.
It's full of tension, violence, a variety of personalities, and an intriguing world. It's very fast-paced so not a ton of character development and we're really only just getting to know some of the characters when the volume ends. But loved the artwork and would definitely pick up the second volume.

Definitely in that 3.5 territory. Star Trek meets occult horror with little bits of D&D stuff leaking in here and there. Zero likeable characters but that might be the point. Interested enough to see where it goes.

This book is a combination of sci-fi and the occult like I’ve never seen! Each issue is a villain of the week type of situation, but instead of a villain, it’s a ghost, or a demon or haunted house. The story progresses forward with a space opera-esque motley crew with a pretty unique relationship dynamic. I read 12 issues of this, but I don’t know how long the “demon of the week” format will hold up over time. But for now it’s really good! Afu Chan continues to deliver memorable art so no issues there!

Not quite the Layman writing I was used to in Chew but the storyline is interesting/different enough that I want to see where it goes.
