Ruining Her is the first book in the McKinley Ranch Duet by Kylie Kent. It follows one of my most favourite psychopaths Josh who I absolutely fell in love with in Entwined With Him. Josh is twisted, possessive, intense and sinfully delicious. As much as it hurts me to say I do believe that Emily is the perfect match for him. There chemistry was clear from the very start of this book. I loved watching Josh protect the woman that he has loved all these years and oh boy does he ever love hard.
This book ends on one hell of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

3 ish stars.
This flies by. It’s truly unhinged nonsense.
But also: unintentionally hilarious. The mmc gets boners watching her eat scrambled eggs. Plus all murders.

Cliffhangers, trigger warnings, oh my!
This is my first Kylie Kent book and the first book in the McKinley Ranch Duet and I am bummed that I don't have the next book in my hand already!!
Kent's prose and storytelling are excellent - easy to read but also kept you hooked. I was immediately enthralled with Josh, our dark, tragic hero. I was also in love with Emily, our heroine. We meet them young, in high school, and we see the connection but Josh feels he has to stay away to protect her and yet he protects her from others, from afar, as well. Until they both finally give in and have that one night. Unfortunately, it was just the one night. Josh leaves her, thinking it's in her best interest. But as we fast forward a few years, we find that Emily was caught in the violent, hateful, evil arms of a true terror.
When Josh and Emily find each other again, we can see that their connection is still vibrant and strong though Emily is skittish, hesitant and scared. We follow their steamy story as their love allows Emily to re-find herself, her strength and their darkly, twisted love and lust.
I really did enjoy this quick read and am ready for book two!!
Please heed the trigger warnings! This contains scenes and discussions of non-consensual sexual acts and domestic abuse. If any of these are triggers for you, you should consider skipping this read.

Bad romantasy tends to be a guilty pleasure of mine as well as hot spiciness. Therefore I will read the 2nd book because that cliffhanger got me and I’m all-in for the MMC, Josh and all his crazy &

It’s another one of those suspend reality along with feminism type of deals. Yes, OTT MMC with a side helping of OW/OM drama. And a major dose of trigger warnings including domestic violence and murder (which, honestly, isputting it lightly).
Last but not least, maybe brush up on your Australian slang.

Kylie did it again! I have yet to read a book of hers that I didn't love. My only complaint was that this book was too short! I am so glad book 2 is already completed because I would be losing my mind if I had to wait around for it. I can't wait to see how this concludes.
Josh and Emily are hands down my favourite Kent couple to date. He adores her and I love watching her stick up for him especially when people call him crazy . There is just so much love between them and it breaks my heart that they didn't just accept the love sooner, especially knowing everything that Emmy went through in their time apart. The way she is processing her trauma feels very realistic and natural which I appreciate.
I love that these books are all in the same universe so we get little cameos now and then. I really enjoyed seeing more of Josh's relationship with Ella and seeing the Australian trio pull Emily into their tequila filled circle made me smile.
