Awesome book. Took me in because there was so much detail I felt like I was actually there with the main character Cait. It is hard not to love Lucas.

I didn't understand this book at all. I didn't get the characters, the motivations, the pacing, and the level (if there is any) of magical realism.
Cait lives on an island with her dad and brother who is home from college for the summer. Cait's mother has died and she wanders the island with her dog endlessly. The only thing worse than a boring summer is reading about someone else's boring summer. There is some action, after Lucas shows up on the island out of nowhere but none of it makes any sense. The characters behave in ways that are more appropriate for a fantasy book, but this isn't really fantasy.
While I couldn't figure out the characters, you learn more about the island than is necessary. The tides, mudflats, beaches, weather, grasslands, and forests are extensively overly-described.
I might try another Brooks book, but this was a confusing and boring read.

I just feel the need to write a reviews because i just re-read the sentences that i marked and if i wouldn't have 10 unread books in my shelf then i would re-read the book for i-don't-know-which-time.

I really suck at writing reviews but i will try to write a serious reviews this timme. This book is honestly one out of 5 books that count to my all-time-favourites and I could read it millions times and would never get tired of it. I just really, really adore the writing style and kevin brooks wrote so many wonderful sentence.
I can totally identify myself with Cat even though i haven't experinced what she did yet.
I love Cat's relationship with her father and how the relationships with her brother grows during the book. Lucas is such a mysterious character and you really have no clue how he can do the things he does.
There is not one scenes in the book where I get annoyed because it all just totally fits.
The ending is heart-breacking but convenient at the same time. It isn't the happy ending you have most of the time but it isn't a bad ending either. It is sad as hell and I constantly cried during the last chapter and I still do everytime I re-read the book or just the last chapter.
This book made me think about so many things in my life and about relationships.

I'm so pleased that I once found this book and I honestly think that more people should read it because it is high class

3 1/2, si la protagonista no hubiese sido tan odiosa se merecería 4 estrellas completitas, pero al fin de cuentas Cait tiene 15 años, al parecer todos somos brutos a esa edad.

This book absolutely and completely changed my life.
I cannot remember feeling a purest love and emotion towards a fictional character than the one I feel for Lucas.
Such a sweet, innocent, funny and cute guy, and such damaged people ruining everything good just because it's different and life changes.
