I so wanted to enjoy this book. We’ll all I can say “my opinion”, way way way to long. Way to much repetitive story telling and yes I know a book in a book, still to much. That story could have easily been done in even 300pages not over 500! The best part of the book was the last 100. Plus it didn’t help that the main characters Jess & Nora had no real redeeming traits. Even the fact Jess was there because Nora was in the hospital but was concerned with her own issues she didn’t even answer a phone when she knew Nora was critical. Definitely won’t be reading any more of her books. Not my cup of tea.

I did not like this book. Honestly, the 4 star average this book has on Goodreads is confusing to me as it took everything I had to finish this book, not because I was interested, but because I had invested so much time into the story itself. At over 500 pages, and 17 hours as an audiobook, this book was a slog to get through and was boring, not thrilling.

This book dragged. And dragged. And dragged. I mostly think this is because of the author’s prose and writing style, which is not for me. She’ll take forever to get to her point. A fluttering of a leaf would take the character down memory lane and 10 pages later, the book wouldn’t have moved forward. Each memory, each 5 paragraph diatribe about what type of paper a letter was on and the weather outside was agonizing.

This book only got good in the last 5-10 chapters when everything finally got revealed and that is the only reason I’m giving this book the rating I am or else this would be a 1 star book for me.

Overall, this book was not the move and was boring. Someone should speak to this author’s editor because I wasted 15 hours of my life that I will never get back.
