I like that it rhymes and I like the way it has you reorient the book to see the tree decorated. I enjoyed this fun book.

Jarvis' magical blend of pencil, chalk, and paint illustrations, colored digitally, enhance the holiday cheer found in Patricia Toht's poem about the transformation of a pine tree into a Christmas tree.

I loved the colors and illustrations used in this story and I felt the pure joy of what it's like to go select your own Christmas tree and to decorate it with loved ones. The surprise pop-up at the ending was amazing and brought the type of glee one can only find during Christmas time.

A family picks out a tree, takes it home, and decorates it to enjoy on Christmas. The short-ish rhyming text flows nicely, and the illustrations are very pretty.
This would be a really fun one if you are a family that picks out a live tree. We have an artificial tree, so sadly, this story wouldn’t mean as much to our family.

Lately, I've started thinking about Christmas and Winter, even though October is not over. This book has only intensified my excitement or thinking about Christmas. I adore it, and I think it is a perfect book to prepare kids for Christmas, the perfect read. I could maybe see it as one of those books that you read annually, a tradition in the making.
