okay first of all, it’s not a thriller if every single twist is that obvious. second of all, can someone explain when the podcast was taking place? because the ending of bram accidentally letting the cops know that she knows mike slash toby ..... but now mike slash toby is dead so.........did nothing come of that and that was a useless twist at the end of the book? confused. also, boring. because all the main characters were insufferable.

More 2.5 than 3 stars (get on the 1/2 stars, Goodreads!)
Our House was EXCESSIVE. Ridiculously overindulgent and unrestrained and stuffed full of every single domestic thriller trope you could think of. I definitely eye-rolled my way through a few chapters. That being said, I read it on an airplane when all I needed was something that had that page-turning-something and Our House had it... not in spades, but enough for me to want to get to the end to see if my predictions came true.

This book wasn’t terrible but it also wasn’t great? It had the potential to be really good, but I felt like it dragged on for quite a while and the ending could’ve used another couple of chapters to wrap things up or an epilogue to see what happened years later.
Yet another god-awful British crime novel. This one starts off in present tense as Fi discovers her house has been sold out from under her by her asshole ex, Bram. Then it splits into Fi telling her story on a podcast called The Victim, and Bram telling his via an interminable Word document.
This is the second book I've read this year that incorporated a podcast, and I imagine there will be more since podcasts are so popular. The other book, Sadie, managed to actually sound like a podcast, though. In this one the "podcast" bits read like a regular book, not at all like how people talk. There's no narrator. There are no questions. It's just a really long, tedious telling of Fi's boring story about her boring failed marriage and lovely home. By the way, did you know she has a lovely home? You will by page 2 because it's all she talks about. Fi's voice is indistinguishable from Bram's, which makes the book feel like a true slog since they're talking about the same events. Both of them are idiots.
I won't go into the plot twists, which were tedious and frustrating. This book sucks. It's the kind of story that is better as a movie because then at least you get to look at pretty houses.

So. Much. Fun. All kinds of twists and turns. Very satisfying.
