4.5. really loving Louise Candlish's books!

I loved every second of this book!! Well written, excellent character development, on point dialogue, intriguing plot. Definitely the best book I have read this year. I was torn between finishing it as fast as I could to find out what happens and putting it down so it would last longer. Loved, loved, loved it! ❤️❤️❤️

Everyone in this book is terrible. Some more than others. So many bad choices that spiral into other bad choices.

Also: Bird nesting sounds like the worst idea ever.
dark mysterious slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I absolutely loathed the format, and the user comments were really distracting. They seemed like notes the author's editor gave her.

All in all, it was compelling, but what, Mike just happened to be a criminal? Or did he intend for Bram to run someone off the road?

almost DNF; long, slow story about unlikable people; interesting end didn't make up for how long it took to slog through the rest of the book to get there.

The ending!!!!! 3 stars for the book overall but the ending pushed it to 4 for me
dark mysterious tense slow-paced

Strong character development: Complicated

Wow this book had so many plot twist and I enjoyed this so much I'll  definitely be checking out more from this author. That ending I can't stop thinking about it. Highly recommend this book.

I am going to leave the plot details for other people to spoil. I got this book from my Advance Readers Club at the library and was very excited after reading the blurb. I was okay with most of the book but was so shocked and disappointed with the end. I was shocked that people would behave in certain ways, regardless of what is being held over your head, and I especially hated how it just ended. It was like taking a scenic drive that stops at a dead end. The premise had such promise, but I am sorry to say, it did not deliver.

I really enjoyed this book. The story is ping-ponged back and forth between the two protagonists, Bram and Fiona, and tracks their journeys as their marriage and lives unravel. It was very well plotted and I did not see the ending coming. My only quibble would be that most of Fiona's account is a retrospective video blog (which was fine and actually contributed to the plotting). I didn't like the interruptions to that given by anonymous listeners. It may have been intended to make the medium appear more real, but it was distracting. However, this is really a minor nit-picking fault. The writing was lovely and the execution of the plot superb.
