'Ons huis' van Louise Candlish trok mij in eerste instantie vanwege de vele vragen in de flaptekst: hoe kan een huis plots verkocht zijn zonder dat je het weet, waar is de man in kwestie en wat is er in hemelsnaam gebeurd? Het zorgde er direct voor dat ik dit boek wilde oppakken, maar hoe langer ik daarmee wachtte, hoe meer ik mijn interesse verloor.
Maar uiteindelijk heb ik dit boek opgepakt en blijf ik toch met gemengde gevoelens achter: ja, het boek is tot in detail uitgewerkt en de wending in de allereerste wending laten je met je hoofd schudden, maar... waarom waren hier zoveel pagina's voor nodig? Het geheel kwam heel langdradig op mijn over en mede daardoor deed dit boek ook niets: ik voelde geen medelij, haat of verbazing. En dat is vrij jammer!

I really enjoyed this book! It’s a bit of a departure from the type of story I usually enjoy but this had such a pull and intrigue that it was hard to put down.
It waned on a bit towards the end but the final paragraph was absolutely chilling!

It took me a while to get through this book. I just didn't really care too much about any of the characters.

I found Bram despicable. I didn't care what happened to him. He killed a child, he should rot in prison. I didn't like the ending either, a kind of non-ending.

Wrażenia: Ale się wynudziłam! Poza tym się nawkurzałam. Nie cierpię takich bohaterów - głupich, naiwnych, brnących ślepo po kolana w gówno. Gdyby Fiona była moją przyjaciółką, to zebrałaby taki opieprz, że pogoniłaby dziada, złożyła papiery rozwodowe z orzekaniem o winie i ustalenie opieki nad dziećmi, a nie bawiła się w jakieś kretyńskie czuwania przy gnieździe.
